50 FOR 50


On 2nd November, the Bank of England will unveil a brand new £50 note. It will feature Boutlon & Watt, but advertising agency Creature London are thinking outside the box and encouraging you to come up with your own design.

All of the entries (no matter how good or bad) will be posed HERE. And on November 2nd, a winner will be picked for best alternative design. The prize? A brand new £50 note. Simple. Check out our favourite entries so far, and head here for more info.

POPULAR POP ART


With Milan Fashion Week currently hard under way, check out Australian graphic artist Craig Redman's apt pop art-inspired portraits of leading Italian fashion figures. 

Riccardo Tisci, Miuccia Prada, Valentino, Anna Piaggi and many more are present. Have a butchers at his website for more (such as portraits of Kanye West, above).

CURTAIN CALL


We've just stumbled across a fantastic time-lapse video documenting architect & designer Ron Arad's latest construction at London's Roundhouse, which opened on Tuesday (scroll to the bottom of this post to see it).


Entitled Curtain Call, the 360-degree interactive installation will showcase pieces from Arad's invited friends and artists, including Hussein Chalayan, Ori Gersht, Javier Mariscal & many more.


The 18 meter-wide cylinder was built from over 5,600 hanging silicon rods and will be available to see until 29h August. Click here for more info.

ANTWERP ACADEMY


This is the time of year when all fashion eyes are on the Antwerp Academy's fashion graduates. The establishment known for giving us Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten & Martin Margiela (to name just a few) has a reputation for launching an incredibly strong caliber of talent into the industry.

This year is no exception, and to celebrate the 7 graduating collections of young designers hailing from Germany, Poland, Japan, The Netherlands and Belgium, artist Tara Dougans has illustrated some of their most accomplished looks (below). STONE AND SPEAR


Up-and-coming designer & illustrator Stone and Spear, aka Simon Cook, is causing quite a stir at the mo. Creative Review recently described him as "one of this year's most promising graduates in visual communications". His bright & colourful work has already featured in trendy magazines all over the world, as well as special commissions to promote Swedish flatpack furniture giant Ikea.
