DR WHO 'VANDALS'

Doctor Who's chief writer & producer, Steven Moffat, has hit out at fans who leak the show's upcoming story-lines on the internet, referring to the release of spoilers as 'vandalism'. His rant came after one viewer, who attended a Doctor Who press event, leaked details of the current series all over the web.

Moffat told BBC Radio 5 Live "You can imagine how much I hate them. I wish they could go and be fans of something else. I just hope that guy never watches my show again, because that's a horrific thing to do." Hear it straight from the horse's mouth below:

Moffat later took to his twitter account to somewhat downplay his outburst: "Finally heard my own rant. Grumpy sod. And what a boring, inflection-free voice! It's like being told off by the shipping forecast".

We think he's absolutely right to be angry. However it's up to the show's viewers to decide whether they want to spoil their own fun by searching for leaked plot-lines on the web. If you don't want to know; don't google it.

EUROPE BY NUMBERS

Have a look at The Guardian's excellent interactive guide to the European Union, shedding light on matters of lifespan, healthcare, marriage & divorce rates, and many, many more statistics. The graphics are clear, well designed and informative. Click here to view it. Go full screen and click 'play' for the complete experience.

BJORK.COM

Bjork's official website has had a redesign ahead of her new album campaign, and it is really rather clever. Have a click & a drag here.

MUSIC BETA

After long speculations, Google announced it's launching its digital music service today. The announcement will be made this afternoon at the I/O Developer Conference in San Francisco, and will be followed by a demo. Users of Spotify will be familiar with the service: you get to upload your personal music library on Google's servers, and you get to access those libraries anytime & anywhere from web-connected devices.

It's understood they're currently in talks with 4 major record labels so that music can also be purchased/streamed & shared with friends. A yearly subscription is expected to go for about £20. (Fyi Apple is expected to launch a similar cloud-based service later this year, so maybe hold out until then?).

THE CITY LIMITS

Beautiful timelapse video from motion photographer Dominic Boudreault. Says he; "I shot this montage from late 2010 through early 2011. One year in the making. My goal was to show the duality between city and nature." Locations included are Montreal, Toronto, Manhattan & Chicago. Hans Zimmer's overtly dramatic soundtrack is a little jarring in our opinion, but do stick with it until the end.

BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED SCARVES

Last month we told you about Kanye West's line of 100% silk scarves, designed by artist George Condo & M/M (Paris). Well the collection is now out & available to buy from M/M (Paris)'s online shop, & selected retailers. Each print, inspired by Condo's artwork for Kanye's latest album, is in limited edition of 100 pieces - so if you'd like one, be quick.

DEEPER UNDERGROUND

We just stumbled upon an extremely lo-fi website that takes you on a tour of London's abandoned tube stations. AbandonedStations.org.uk has an extensive archive of spooky & fascinating shots of long-forgotten tracks, desolate platforms, disused lift shafts, old maps & posters, as well as underground shelters, bedrooms & bathrooms used during world war 2. Check out a small selection above & below, or head to the site for more.

NO ROOM TO LIVE

Are you familiar with Times New Viking? You should be. They're a lo-fi indie rock band from Ohio, which consists of guitarist Jared Philips, keyboardist Beth Murphy & drummer Adam Elliott (Beth & Adam share vocals).

Their 5th and latest album Dancer Equired - pictured above - came out 2 weeks ago, and their new single No Room To Live is our music vid crush of the day. Each frame was printed from the real video, then hand drawn, coloured, decorated & put back together. We <3 it.

5QUESTIONS: THE LISPS

We told you about our favourite new band on Tuesday, and now Sammy from The Lisps is answering this week's 5Questions. Click on Sammy's answers for web-links. Readysetgo!

1. Who would be your dream person to collaborate with?

Julie Taymor. Also I heard recently that The Flaming Lips are working on a musical based on Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots with Des McAnuff. What?? Wayne, call us.

2. Last film you saw & 3 words to describe it

Morgan Spurlock's The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. It's hard to describe in 3 words, but... illuminating, meta, ballsy.

3. Best advice you've ever been given?

Dad: make sure you have SAFE sex
Mom: make sure you have NICE sex

4. What are you doing this weekend?

I'm shooting an episode of Boardwalk Empire today, and working at Pies 'N' Thighs, the restaurant that I work at on Saturday & Sunday. My brother, sister-in-law and mom are in town for mother's day, so lots of cleaning the apartment with mom, moving furniture around, throwing shit out of my refrigerator, eating, playing with my cats, and flea marketing.

5. Recommend someone to follow on twitter

I'm not a huge twitterer, but I still check in on the @BronxZoosCobra once in a while, even though his fifteen minutes were up a long time ago. If you don't know who that is, it's the cobra that escaped from the Bronx Zoo about a month ago. He was having a ball for a while, painting the town red, but has since been found. If you're into puns, like me, there are some good ones.

Thanks, Sammy!

The Lisps' awesome new album Are We at the Movies? is out on 17 May; they're having an album release at The Rock Shop in Brooklyn on 20 May, and you can pre-order & stream the album on their website, which is here. Let's have another look at their new video, shall we.

TOILET PAPER

In the mood for something a bit different? Artist Maurizio Cattelan & amazing photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari have recently teamed up to create a new magazine called Toilet Paper.

With provocative imagery that's meant to shock and amuse, the Milan-based duo launched the publication with the support of Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, which promotes & supports contemporary artists in Italy. Check out some stills from the mag below, and get your own copy from Artbook or Les presses du reel.

PING PONG STAR

Time for another excellent short courtesy of Nowness. Table tennis champion, model & actress Soo Yeon Lee features in this slow-motion film, directed by photographer & director Matthew Donaldson and styled by Katie Shillingford, who commissioned fringed tights, gloves & a hat for the shoot.

KOLORS IN FULL

We told you about ksubi's gorgeous new film, Kolors, a couple of days ago (scroll down a bit if you don't believe us), and now here it is in its full glory for your enjoyment.

TURNER

It's that time of the year when people argue over what constitutes art and get outraged as £25k is awarded to a British contemporary artist under 50.

Let's have a look at the 2011 Turner prize shortlist, starting with Karla Black, who likes to make sculptures with temporary household materials. The delicate piece below is entitled What to Ask for Others.

Next we have Hilary Lloyd, who mixes still, moving image & sound in her projections and installations. Man, seen below, shows different sections of a picture of a man in underwear.

Martin Boyce follows, with his atmospheric sculptures, such as below's A Library of Leaves, which is a reinterpretation of an original 1950s design for a library table for the Maison de l'Etudiant in Paris.

Last we have George Shaw's paintings, with their own brand of drab observations and melancholic humour, as seen in below's The Resurface, which depicts a new bit of tarmac by some garages.

And there you have it. You can view all these pieces + more at the Baltic in Gateshead, where they will be on display until 8 January 2012. From a first glance we'd say George Shaw's paintings are our favourites, but best of luck to all!

HOME-GROWN: LUCY BLAKSTAD FOR COMFORT

At the risk of repeating ourselves... another day, another great ad from Home Corp. The wonderful Lucy Blakstad has worked her magic on this adorable spot for Comfort Pure. Check it out below!

TOM VEK

Major music vid crush of the day - possibly of the week - courtesy of Tom Vek's new single A Chore. Wikipedia (always cite your source) tells us Vek is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist musician from London.

Fyi the androgynous vocals below do not come from the pretty blonde singer but from Tom Vek himself (and are therefore not androgynous), which makes for a clever video, you'll agree. Look out for his second album, Leisure Seizure, out on 6 June.

PALA

Their 2008 self-titled debut album was the soundtrack to our summer that year (here's a reminder), and now the almighty Friendly Fires are backbackback with a new album out on 16 May, Pala.

The stunning cover artwork (above) was shot by none other than fashion uber-photographer Solve Sundsbo, and promises all manner of sun-drenched indie/dance gorgeousness that they are known & loved for, including new single Live Those Days Tonight. Have a listen..

Also fyi the band are currently gracing the cover of this week's NME (below), getit getit.

HOME-GROWN: STACY PERALTA FOR TOYOTA

Another day, another great ad from Home Corp! This time courtesy of our very own Stacy Peralta, who turned the camera on US musician Nedelle & her band, for this wonderful spot for Toyota. Check it out below.

ARE WE AT THE MOVIES?

Music vid crush of the day comes courtesy of New York indie-pop-rockers The Lisps' brand new single Are We at the Movies? Their new album (of the same name) is out on 17 May and is expected to do big big things. Look em up & check em out asap.

KOLORS

It may be relatively sunny outside, but the return to work after what's felt like 2 weeks of summery barbecues and endless time off can be a little difficult... Let us inject some kolor into your Tuesday morning, with this new fashion film from cult Australian label ksubi

Kolors was shot by Australian director Daniel Askill, and is a stunning slo-mo affair, filled with retro muscle cars, colourful smoke clouds and scantily clad models wearing ksubi's dyed jeans in blue, orange, green, purple, red, pink, black & white.

The film doesn't fully premiere until Thursday, but Dazed have acquired a sneak peek, which you can preview below. Head here on the 5th for the full version; the same day that the unique denim range launches in stores worldwide. (available from Selfridges in the UK)
