Kaiser Chiefs are messing with the formula with the release of their new album, The Future is Medieval. Produced by the legendary Tony Visconti (Bowie, Lou Reed), the album is essentially compiled by the fans from a list of 20 new tracks available from the band's website.
You can listen to a snippet of each song, select your 10 favourite tracks, assemble them in whichever order you like, and even create your own bespoke cover artwork. Surprisingly, there's even an opportunity to make money: if the 'diy' album you've created gets purchased following a recommendation to a friend, you earn £1.
Innovative or gimmicky? It will be interesting to see if this 'bespoke' model catches on... Here's the video for lead single Little Shocks.
