Bad times at BlueBeat.com. The US-based Spotify/iTunes hybrid, which allows users to listen, buy & share music online, has just been fined $1m for the unauthorised selling of Beatles tracks. EMI took legal action as soon as their biggest band's back catalogue was made available on BlueBeat, back in October 2009, but it is reported the site had already sold over 67,000 Beatles tracks. On top of the hefty fine, BlueBeat must also desist from selling, distributing, publicly performing or linking to any works controlled by EMI. Moral of the story: don't mess with The Beatles.
